Sapori Napoletani draws on chef’s Neapolitan roots

Sapori Napoletani at 8235 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago opened in July. The fledgling eatery features Italian cuisine, Neapolitan pizza and craft cocktails across two floors, two bars and a rooftop.

The menu is rooted in tradition and in recipes passed down through generations to owner Antonio Vitiello, who was born and raised in Naples, Italy. Vitiello runs the restaurant with his wife, Ewelina, a native of Poland who met her husband after she moved to Italy.

“His journey began at just 8 years old, working alongside his family in their pizzeria, where he learned the art of Neapolitan pizza-making and developed a deep appreciation for authentic Italian hospitality,” the restaurant’s website states. “What began as a simple hobby at home and in the backyard grew into a small, family-owned restaurant and pizzeria in a Norwood Park strip mall — and has now become an elevated, two-floor destination in the Dunning neighborhood, with a cozy rooftop, golden bars, and mosaic golden ovens, perfect for romantic nights, family gatherings and special celebrations.”

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, along with cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine, plus a kids menu. (saporinapoletani.com)
