Justinians go to bat for kids in need

Pisano, Muñoz, Sommario, Olsen-Jackson and Romanucci

The Justinian Society of Lawyers held its 22nd annual Children’s Endowment Fund grant reception on March 14 at Luxbar in Chicago. Justinian President Michael Pisano and Endowment Fund Chairman Frank Sommario presented a total of $10,000 in CEF grants at the event to Almost Home Kids and La Casa Norte. Additional donations were made from the floor by Justinian members and other guests in attendance. On hand to accept the grants were Jose Muñoz of La Casa Norte and Raeann Olsen-Jackson of Almost Home Kids.

“The Justinian Society is fervent in continuing to give back to our community and we thank all members who have contributed,” Pisano said.

“Almost Home Kids and La Casa Norte are incredibly worthy recipients of these funds and we commend all that they do for children that are in need,” Sommario added.

The Children’s Endowment Fund and the Scholarship Fund comprise the Justinian Endowment Fund, which is the charitable arm of the Justinian Society of Lawyers. The mission of the CEF is to assist disabled or disadvantaged children in the Chicago area.

Established in 2002 during the presidency of Antonio Romanucci, the fund has benefited a wide range of causes, including the Make-A-Wish foundation, Bear Necessities, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Reflections Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Child’s Voice, Maryville Academy Children’s Healthcare Center, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, CASA Kane County, Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, Direct Effect Charities and Saint Anthony Hospital.
