Mazala Pizza, which has two locations in Chicago and one in San Jose, California, recently opened a new location at 535 Fairway Drive in Naperville. Another location is planned later this year in Schaumburg.

The word “mazala” derives from the fusion of the Hindi words masala (spices) and maza (fun), and symbolizes bold flavor and joy. The restaurant blends pizza with the rich flavors of Indian cuisine, offering something distinctive in the fast-casual space.

Pizza choices include the Tikka (choice of paneer or chicken, tikka-masala base, chicken, green peppers, onions, cheese, garlic seasoning, moti sauce, cilantro-lime sauce); Butter Masala (tikka-masala base, paneer, green peppers, onions, cheese, garlic seasoning, moti sauce, cilantro-lime sauce); Samosa Smash (tikka-masala base, crushed samosa, onions, cheese, sev, mint chutney, tamarind chutney); Firecracker (tikka base, choice of protein, jalapenos, fresh mozzarella, firecracker sauce); Manchurian (tikka base, fresh mozzarella, vegetable Manchurian, onions, lava sauce), and many more.

The owners first opened Moti Cafe in Chicago’s River North neighborhood in May 2019, then switched to a takeout-only model in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We closely followed evolving food trends and noticed one undeniable fact: Pizza was booming,” the website states. “That moment of insight led to a simple but powerful idea: What if we reimagined pizza through the bold, vibrant lens of South Asian flavors?”
