Arcolians to honor Dr. Pollina at holiday dinner

Dr. Russell Pollina

The Arcolian Dental Arts Society will honor Dr. Russell S. Pollina as Arcolian of the Year at its annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 15 at Saranello’s in Wheeling. Donations will be distributed to schools, churches, needy families and various Italian organizations at the event, as well as scholarships to third- and fourth-year dental students of Italian lineage.

Dr. Russ is a board-certified pediatric dentist with offices in Mount Prospect and Barrington. A graduate of Loyola University undergraduate and dental school, he was born in a little mountainside town in Sicily to Rosario and Serafina Pollina. He came to America when he was 9 years old, not speaking a word of English, and quickly picked up the language and was able to be placed in advanced classes.

He worked in the family landscaping business and at Italian Village while attending school. He now lives in Barrington Hills with his wife, Tracy. They have been blessed with three children — Evan, Olivia and Katherine — and enjoy their many horses, which are a big part of their lives.

Dr. Russ has volunteered his time to many dental clinics that serve the needy across America and in Guatemala. He has been an Arcolian member since 1996, serving as president in 2013.

He truly exemplifies the Arcolian values and upholds our heritage, profession and philanthropy while always providing members with his homemade limoncello at our meetings. The Arcolians salute Dr. Russ Pollina as a truly worthy recipient of its Arcolian of the Year. Tanti auguri!
