Michael Tadin Jr., president of MAT Construction Inc., was honored as Man of the Year at the event, and Michael A. Tadin, president of Marina Cartage Inc., was hailed as Humanitarian of the Year.
Tadin Jr. launched MAT Construction in 1999, offering road-grinding, paving and general contracting services. He launched his real estate arm, Morgan Street Development, 15 years ago, and MAT Asphalt LLC last year. He is a member of the Illinois Roadbuilders Association and the Illinois Asphalt Paving Association.
Active in his community and a generous benefactor, he supports St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, the Latin School of Chicago, After School Matters and the Valentine Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.
As president of Marina Cartage Inc. for 40 years, Tadin Sr. has overseen the company’s growth from humble beginnings on Chicago’s South Side to a transportation leader across the Midwest.
Marina Cartage’s inter-modal and transfer fleet has grown to more than 300 vehicles and heavy equipment, and its construction division operates an additional 100.
He is a supporter of many charitable and educational organizations, including St. Jerome’s Grammar School and De LaSalle Institute, Valentine’s Boys and Girls Club of Chicago and the Misericordia/Heart of Mercy Home.
