IA Literati 2024, Casa Italia’s 20th annual celebration of local Italian-American authors, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 13 in the Florentine Room of the Italian Cultural Center of Casa Italia. The event will begin with a meet-and-greet with the writers, followed by presentations. Additional activities include book sales, book signings and raffles, and a light lunch. Admission is free, but freewill donations are encouraged and reservations are required. The Italian Cultural Center at Casa Italia in Stone Park unveiled a restored and enhanced Italians in Chicago exhibit at an open house from 6-9 p.m. on May 12. “Reconstructing Italians in Chicago — Thirty Authors in Search of Roots and Branches” was released in 2011 as “a sampler of the best writing on the subject of Italians in Chicago,” according to Dominic Candeloro, who spearheaded the book’s publication by Casa Italia. The first edition has sold out, and a 10th anniversary edition has now been published by Amazon at a much lower price, both in print and on Kindle.
