Local Campani celebrate Napoli victory

Members of Associazione Regionale Campania in Chicago were overjoyed when Napoli won the coveted Serie A title, clinching the Scudetto with a 1-1 draw against Udinese. It was the first time in 33 years and the second time in history that Naples rose to the top of Serie A. The organization watched the game at Fenice Banquets at Casa Italia, enjoying a sumptuous meal prepared by Chef Mark Triggiano. ARC President Filippo Aliperta later created a painting celebrating Diego Maradona and Victor Osimhen, stars of the 1987 and 2023 championship teams, respectively.

Local Campani attend NY gathering

Associazione Regionale Campania di Chicago was well represented at this year’s Festa Campani nel Mondo. Organized by the Campania Federation of New York, the event was held on Oct. 2 at Villa Barone Manor Banquets in the Bronx, New York. Fabrizio Di Michele, Italy’s consul general in New York, was in attendance, along with the officers and members of several Campani associations from across the country. Representing Chicago were (pictured, from left) ARC President Filippo Aliperta and his wife, Angela; Vice President Ida Atteo; and Secretary Ippolita Bifero.

ARC pays visit to Wisconsin shrines

Members of the Associazione Regionale Campania will head west this spring, visiting President Grant’s home and the Blaum Distillery in Galena, Illinois, and the Dickeyville Grotto and Shrines in Dickeyville, Wisconsin. Erected on the grounds of the Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville, the expansive display of religious and patriotic art was created by Fr. Matthias Wernerus, pastor of the parish from 1918-31. The grotto contains several shrines, including ones dedicated to the Blessed Mother, the Holy Eucharist and Christ the King.
