Dan Brandolino’s involvement with the American Italian Cultural Society dates back so far, he can’t remember a time before it. “My grandparents were involved at the beginning and I was there since as far as I can remember,” he recalls. “I helped as a kid with little stuff, and started in the kitchen as a dishwasher for Friday night dinners and spaghetti dinners.” In May, Brandolino was elected president of the social and cultural club based in suburban Chicago’s Crest Hill. The American Italian Cultural Society has been faithfully serving the Italian American community of the southwest suburbs from its clubhouse in Crest Hill for nearly 40 years. A strong sense of community is a defining feature of the American Italian Cultural Society, according to John Mauzer, who was sworn in as president of the Crest Hill-based social club in December. “Our membership is one big family dedicated to sharing our Italian culture, teaching traditions and preserving our heritage,” Mauzer explains. “2024 is going to be a busy and exciting year.
