Casa Italia, Fermi school to host summer camps

 

Casa Italia in Stone Park will host a summer camp from June 16-20 and June 23-27. Campers ages 5-12 will learn about the language and culture of Italy through games, songs, sports, skits, cooking, and formal and informal lessons.

Directed by Cav. Lyn Scolaro, a local language instructor with nearly 40 years of experience on the high school level, the camp will be staffed by certified teachers recruited from local high school language programs, as well as teacher’s assistants drawn from upper-level Italian classes.

The camp will run Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. A registration fee of $675 covers nutritious lunches, snacks throughout the day and a complimentary T-shirt. Scuola Italiana Enrico Fermi in Chicago will host a series of Italian arts summer camps from June 16- 27, June 30-July 11, July 14-25 and July 28-Aug. 8. Campers ages 4-8 will explore fine and performing arts, with focus on contemporary Italian artists, and enjoy outdoor time, water play and weekly field trips. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with aftercare available until 5:45. Fees range from $1,215-$1,350 per camp. For details, visit siefchicago.org or call 312-971-8064.
