Roselle Sister Cities Italian Committee will host a tour of the region of Puglia from Sept. 7-16.
“Puglia is known for its history-rich cities, vibrant culture, dramatic seaside cliffs, crystal-clear waters and rustic cuisine,” tour creator Pat Capriati notes. “We’ve put together a trip that will showcase all those qualities.”
The itinerary will include Bari, Mola di Bari, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Lecce, Otranto, Martina Franca, Torre dell’Orso, Santa Maria di Leuca, Polignano a Mare, San Vito, Rutigliano and Manduria.
Along the way, participants will witness the pageantry of the Feast of Maria SS Addolorata; explore the ancient trulli of Alberobello with their iconic cone-shaped stone roofs; learn how to prepare Pugliese specialties such as focaccia barese with pomodorini, and panzerotti with mozzarella and orecchiette; and sample a selection of Apulian wines.
The excursion features deluxe private bus, English-speaking guides and 22 meals (nine breakfasts, eight lunches, four dinners and a banquet dinner-dance in a traditional masseria).
The cost per person for double occupancy is $3,150, with 25 percent due upon confirmation and the balance due 30 days before departure. The fee covers ground transportation, hotel accommodations, excursions, tastings, entrance fees and the meals indicated.
A northwest suburb of Chicago, Roselle is in the process of finalizing a Sister Cities agreement with Mola di Bari.
