As a Navy Seabee, Anthony Pucillo helped create housing and infrastructure for installations throughout the Pacific after the Korean War. The oldest of three sons, Anthony Pucillo was born in Chicago to Ernest and Theresa (FioRito) Pucillo. The family lived in the Jane Adams Projects on Taylor Street until Pucillo was 5 years old. “We moved around quite a bit,” he says. Both parents were born in Chicago, and his grandparents emigrated from Sicily and Calabria. Initially amused by the sport, Michael Paccione and his family are now among the top lawn mower racers in the nation. In the hush of Holy Name Cathedral, with hundreds of Catholics in attendance, the former Fr. Dottoressa Daniela Cavallero has been named the first executive director of Italidea Midwest. A 501(c)3 charitable organization, Italidea-Midwest fosters the study of the Italian language and the promotion of Italian culture. The organization works in conjunction with the Chicago Italian Consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 10 Midwest states. Cavallero is an adjunct professor of Italian in the Modern Languages Department at DePaul University and the president of Sentieri Italiani in Chicago. Taking up her first golf club as a tot, Caterina Don has made impressive professional headway during her undergraduate career. A 20-year-old golfer from Italy, Caterina Don says being invited to play at the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open while just a sophomore at the University of Georgia was “an amazing learning experience.” Even though she failed to make the cut after the first day of play at the tournament, which was held at Champions Golf Club in Houston, the opportunities afforded her were invaluable, Caterina says.
