Paul Basile

Paul Basile has been the editor of Fra Noi for a quarter of a century. Over that period, he and his dedicated family of staff members and correspondents have transformed a quaint little community newspaper into a gorgeous glossy magazine that is read and admired across the nation. They also maintain a cluster of national and local websites and are helping other major metropolitan areas launch their own versions of Fra Noi.

Highland Park High School

  Nonostante che il programma d’italiano a nostra scuola non sia molto grande, ci siamo dedicati allo studio della cultura e della lingua italiana. L’italiano è una lingua così bella e adoriamo impararlo. L’anno scorso abbiamo partecipato ad un progetto con studenti di Modena su Edmodo, una piattaforma online, grazie agli sforzi della signora Carol Wolfe, la presidente della Highland Park Sister Cities Foundation e la Signora Emma Kowalenko, un membro attivo di questa fondazione. Rolling Meadows High School

  Una volta al mese, facciamo una discussione chiamata caffè e chiacchiere.   Il caffè e chiacchiere si fa ogni mese per tutto l’anno scolastico. È un’opportunità di conversare in gruppi o con tutti in classe.  Il nostro Profe Bondì ci porta delle ciambelle e il latte cioccolato che rappresenta come essere in un bar italiano bevendo caffè con gli amici.  Poi, facciamo questi gruppetti per iniziare la discussione del giorno mentre mangiamo le ciambelle e beviamo il “caffè.” Ci piace quest’attività perché ci fa sentire comodi e tranquilli, ci aiuta spingere a partecipare, e ogni persona ha l’opportunità di parlare …

  Quest’anno, il liceo di Wheeling, Illinois, ha partecipato in uno scambio con il Liceo Scientifico A.Oriani di Ravenna. Mi chiamo Becky e sono una studentessa che ha partecipato in questo scambio. L’undici di settembre, le studentesse d’Italia sono arrivate negli Stati Uniti, e hanno abitato con noi nelle nostre case. Some of my fondest holiday memories of my dad are of preparing dinner with him on Christmas Eve. We conjured up some pretty fabulous feasts, but a red sauce with perfectly tender calamari evaded us for years. Living La Vita Italiana

  I envy the first Italian Americans: those brave souls who catapulted themselves into the unknown and stared down countless hardships to create a better life for their families in a strange, new land. They brought with them little more than the shirts on their backs and the culture that shaped them, but that was more than enough.
