2011 Dinner Dance and Cash Raffle

On November 26, 2011, the Italian American Civic Organization of Berwyn held its annual Dinner Dance and Cash Raffle at Alta Villa Banquets in Addison.

This year, more than 420 people attended the event, which honored Renato Turano as the IACOB 2011 Man of the Year. Senatore Turano is one of the founding fathers of IACOB, and a past president who remains a pillar of the Berwyn community. With Turano Baking Co. headquartered in its original location on Roosevelt Road, Ron has remained an active advisor and supporter in the organization. During Ron’s acceptance speech, members were reminded of why the organization was established, how the organization remained active and bonds that were forged between members that continue to thrive today with a sense of caring and family.

The annual IACOB Scholarship was awarded by Chairman Robert J. Lovero to Domenica Manfredini, daughter of Mario and Yolanda Manfredini, who is a sophomore studying criminology, law and justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As the daughter of a third-generation IACOB member, Domenica shared her story of growing up in the “club” with her extended family.

Besides dining on Enzo’s world-renowned buffet and dinner, attendees were entertained by two of Berwyn’s own: Tony Pellegrino and Sammy Inendino. Nearly a dozen monetary prizes were raffled off to lucky winners, with all money raised at the event supporting IACOB’s mission.
