Judge Diann Marsalek has transitioned from her role as supervising judge of the Traffic Section of Cook County court system to supervising judge of the Housing and Eviction Section. The move was announced by Chief Judge Charles S. Beach II.
Marsalek has served the Circuit Court of Cook County for the past 15 years. In her role as supervising judge of the Traffic Section, she led one of the highest-volume dockets in the system.
“Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated exceptional administrative leadership, ensuring the efficient operation of the Traffic Section while maintaining the highest standards of judicial professionalism and public service,” Branch says.
“I am grateful to Chief Judge Beach for his confidence in my abilities and for selecting me to serve in this leadership role,” Judge Marsalek says. “I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the challenge of expanding my knowledge of these important court functions while working collaboratively to support the efficient administration of justice.”
Marsalek has played a pivotal role in teaching and mentoring newly appointed and newly elected judges, developing comprehensive educational programs and providing practical guidance that has helped countless jurists transition to the bench.
“Housing and Eviction Court demands leadership that is highly organized and adept at engaging with government bodies, self-represented litigants and other complex challenges unique to that docket,” Judge Beach says. “Judge Marsalek is uniquely qualified and skilled in these areas, and I am confident she will elevate the section’s operations and better serve the residents who rely on it.”
