Fra Noi Embrace Your Inner Italian
With state restrictions finally lifted, Casa Italia is back in full swing.
The Casa got the ball rolling in June with the revival of its bocce league. The 10-week tourney pits 16 teams of four against each other in a pitched battle for coveted trophies plus bragging rights until next year’s competition.
Having gathered via Zoom last year, I-A Literati convened its annual celebration of Italian-American authors in person at the Cultural Center in July. Terry Quilico’s play “Seatonville” premiered afterward in the Community Center.
Società Beato Giovanni Liccio di Caccamo hosted its annual festa at the end of July in the Festival Center, and the Calabresi in America Organization and Società San Francesco di Paola will stage Festa della Famiglia in honor of their patron saint across the Casa grounds in early August.
Later in the month, the Casa will host its popular Ballo Sotto le Stelle after a year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Calabresi in America Organization, Italian American Executives of Transportation, Associazione Regionale Siciliani in America and Associazione Regionale Campania are once again holding meetings in the Banquet Center and other spaces across the campus.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the community back after such a long absence,” says Casa chairman Angelo Castanza. “We encourage families and clubs alike to give us a call to book their next event.”
