On September 29 and 30, Radio Maria is having a rummage sale where you will find a variety of items — from electronics and ceramics, to dresses, books, CD’s, vintage records, etc. — all to be purchased for an unbeatable price. This will be held at the Festival Center of Casa Italia, entrance on 37th Avenue and Soffel Street, Stone Park.

The public is invited to support this worthy cause to keep Radio Maria on the air. Radio Maria is a religious program with news, Mass, the Rosary, prayers, and questions and answers strengthening our journey of faith.

If you have anything you could donate, please call Rev Augusto Feccia at 708-345-3299 to arrange how you can get items to Radio Maria! Please come and bring your friends to this unique occasion.

On October 7, there will be a pilgrimage for the commencement of a year of faith with Our Lady of the New Millennium at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. John, Ind. Pope Benedict XVI has called for a year of faith that will run from October 2012 until Nov. 24, 2013 in which we are invited to discover the beauty and power of our faith — “the joy and renewed enthusiasm of our encounter with Christ” — joining the Samaritan woman at the well and listening to Jesus, who invites us to put our trust in Him and to draw from His source to obtain eternal life.

You are all invited to participate! Please join us on October 7 at the Italian Cultural Center at 1621 N. 39th Ave. in Stone Park. At 8:30 a.m., we will depart by bus for the short trip to St. John, where upon arrival there will be a short break for refreshments, then walk up to the Sanctuary to recite the Holy Rosary. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a celebration of the holy Mass by our beloved Fr. Feccia, and at noon, a panini lunch will be provided at the restaurant.

After lunch, we will gather for Adoration and Stations of the Cross, and an optional visit to the gift shop. The bus will depart at 4 p.m. and will return to the Italian Cultural Center. The cost is only $35.

Please make your reservations by contacting Padre Feccia at 708-345-3299 or fecciag@gmail.com, or Teresa Helfand at 773-763-0507. Payment must be received no later than Oct. 2 to guarantee a seat on the bus! Payment received after Oct. 2 will be on a wait list only!

Congratulations to Fr. Feccia on his 50th anniversary of ordination. A party was held at Casa Italia on Aug. 25 attended by many who love and admire Padre Augusto. We extend our appreciation and gratitude, and wish him many years at the Italian Cultural Center, which he founded in the 1970s.
