Rita pushes for drone control

A new law sponsored by State Rep. Bob Rita would give local governments the power to make their own rules about drones flying over public spaces. “Whether it’s parents watching their child’s softball game, young swimmers in a competition, or people enjoying our trail system, everyone should be able to enjoy local parks without worrying about drones causing problems,” Rep. Rita said. “This legislation will allow park districts to regulate drone usage so that guests can feel safe and secure while enjoying public spaces.”

Rep. Rita hosts anti-crime roundtable

State Rep. Bob Rita brought together state and local leaders on the frontlines of the fight against violent crime to explore solutions to the problems his constituents are facing. In late March, Rita hosted a “Combating Crime” roundtable discussion at Calumet Township Community Center in Calumet Park. On hand were mayors and police chiefs from the communities in Rita’s 28th House District, which covers south suburban Calumet Park, Blue Island, Riverdale, Oak Forest, Midlothian, Robbins, Posen and Crestwood.
