In 2008, as America’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were raging, Dr. Joseph E. Troiani identified a major problem: There weren’t enough qualified psychology professionals to help returning service members. “We were already about seven years into the war and I had the realization that we didn’t have enough trained clinical psychologists to work with and address various mental health issues of returning veterans,” Troiani says. Renato Bacci to preside over veterans museum

Retired Army Col. Renato Bacci has been elected by the board of directors to helm the Italian American Veterans Museum. Joining him as officers are retired Navy Commander Joseph Troiani as first vice president, retired Army Maj. Lorenzo Fiorentino as second vice president, Army veteran Mark DiSanto third vice president, Steve Corbo as treasurer, Eugene Giudice as parliamentarian and Paul Basile as corporate secretary and executive vice president. Maywood pays tribute to heroes of Bataan

On Sept. 10, 2017 the Maywood Bataan Day Organization unveiled a new tribute in Maywood Park to those who served at Bataan in the Philippines. The date marked the 75th commemoration of the annual Remember Bataan Memorial Services. The ceremony has been taking place on the second Sunday in September every year since 1942.
