Dr. Rosella Spadoni ascended to the presidency of the Arcolian Dental Arts Society on April 24 at RoccoVino’s in Elk Grove Village. Dr. Spadoni is a founding and principal doctor at South Barrington Dental. Joining her as Arcolian officers are President-Elect Dr. Katina Spadoni, Vice President Dr. Chuck DiFranco Jr., Secretary Dr. Paul E. DiFranco, Treasurer Dr. Derek Fornelli, and Dinner/Speaker Chair Dr. Mary Teresa Lima. Bios and profiles follow.
Dr. Rosella Spadoni (President)
Dr. Rosella Spadoni received her bachelor of science in 1980 from Loyola University of Chicago. She completed her graduate studies and obtained her D.D.S. degree from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Dentistry in 1984. She was the founding principal of her practice and opened an office in South Barrington in 1984. She was joined three years later by her sister, Dr. Katina Spadoni and the two have been working together in patient care to this present day. She is a dental consultant for Delta Dental Of Illinois.
Dr. Katina Spadoni (President-Elect)
Dr Katina Spadoni received her bachelor of science in biology in 1984 cum laude, from Loyola University of Chicago. She completed her graduate studies and earned her D.D.S. degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1987. In addition to being one of the founding doctors of South Barrington Dental, she is actively involved in the dental insurance arena, serving as the dental director of a major dental benefits provider.
Dr. Chuck DiFranco Jr. (Vice President)
Growing up, Dr. Chuck DiFranco Jr. was always around his father’s periodontal practice. He worked at the office as early as high school mailing letters, calling patients and eventually working beside his dad and aunts as a surgical assistant. That was enough for him to decide he wanted to go to dental school.
Dr. Paul E. DiFranco (Treasurer)
Dr. Paul E. DiFranco received his undergraduate education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then pursued a fellowship in craniofacial research for one year, and went on to complete his orthodontic residency at the University of Kentucky, where he earned his Masters Certificate (M.S.). A third-generation dentist, he started out in the profession at a young age while assisting his uncle Paul A. DiFranco’s orthodontic practice.
Dr. Derek H. Fornelli (Secretary)
Dr. Fornelli received his dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006. He keeps abreast of current dental techniques, materials and technology through his participation in continuing education courses, literature reviews, and independent research. An accomplished artist, he also holds degrees in art from Illinois State University and biology from Benedictine University.
Dr. Mary Teresa Lima (Program Chair)
Dr. Mary Lima is a general dentist at Dartmoor Dental in Crystal Lake. She earned her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
