Carmine’s, one of Chicago’s most iconic Italian restaurants, reopened at 1037 N. Rush St. after a two-year, multimillion-dollar renovation that included major interior and exterior upgrades.
The restaurant is owned by Alex Dana, founder and president of the Rosebud Restaurant Group, who first opened Rosebud on Taylor Street in 1976. Carmine’s originally opened in 1994, Block Club Chicago reported.
“Carmine’s has always been about bringing people together around great food and genuine hospitality,” Dana said in a statement reported by the news site. “This reopening allows us to honor that history while creating something exciting and relevant for the next generation.”
The redesign is meant to feel like a “timeless supper club” with several dining areas including a main dining room, a 40-seat private dining space and a four-season enclosed terrace.
The new menu features trademark “generous portions” and “scratch-made recipes,” including classics such as square noodles, homemade eight-finger cavatelli and meatball salad.
The menu also as a whole “leans into classic Italian steakhouse fare,” with entrees ranging in price from about $31-$90, salads for $11-$30 and appetizers from $11-$34. Gluten-free pasta, and vegetarian and vegan options, are available.
