UIC dentist honored by science association

Dr. Luisa DiPietro, a professor of periodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. AAAS fellows are selected by their peers in recognition of significant advances made in the sciences. The director of the UIC Center for Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration and the associate chancellor for research, DiPietro studies the process of wound healing and tissue regeneration following injury. She and her coworkers have discovered several key factors that dictate whether wounds heal perfectly or with scars.

UIC dental school honors Dr. Manzotti

Dr. Anna Manzotti, a clinical assistant professor of restorative dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, earned a Teaching Recognition Program (TRC) Award from the UIC Center for the Advancement of Teaching-Learning Communities. “Dr. Manzotti’s teaching is an excellent example of the high quality of instruction that characterizes the best of UIC,” says Dr. Maria Varelas, director of the center. Arcolians honor Dr. Baldassano

Dr. Joe Baldassano was named Arcolian of the Year at the Arcolian Dental Arts Society’s annual Christmas party at the Park Ridge Country Club. The award was presented by Arcolian President Dr. Russ Spinazze and past President Dr. Michael Biasiello. Illinois Supreme Court taps Romanucci

  The Illinois Supreme Court has reappointed personal injury attorney Antonio M. Romanucci vice chairperson of its Rules Committee. A founding principal and partner at Romanucci & Blandin, Romanucci has served on the Rules Committee since December 2011. Glorioso to chair tax appeal board

Governor Bruce Rauner has appointed Westchester attorney Mauro Glorioso chairman of the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board. Glorioso has been a member of the five-member board for eight years. The Illinois Senate confirmed his appointment by a vote of 52-0. Prior to becoming a board member, Glorioso served as an administrative law judge at the agency for eight years.   Lou Storino was elected president of the Illinois Water Environment Association for the 2015-2016 year. A principal civil engineer in the Collection Facilities/TARP section of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Storino is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Illinois and has worked at the district for more than 17 years.
