Carol Amendola-D'Anca

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Chicago Medical School, Carol Amendola-D’Anca has dedicated herself to “raising awareness, inspiring change and improving the health of the nation” in response to the growing problem of dietary illness in America. The author of two books about “real food,” she runs a nutrition education group that meets monthly, speaks at public venues and physician conferences, and hosts cooking class aimed at learning how to prepare healthful foods on a budget. She is the winner of the In Her Shoes Foundation's 2019 Women Who Change the World Leadership Award.

I’ve traveled extensively throughout mainland Italy over the past 20 years. I love the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle differences in the regions from north to south and east to west. However, my trip to Sardinia this past November was my first encounter with the island. Italy’s second largest island after Sicily, Sardinia is best known for its beaches and emerald coast.
