Pompeii keeps holiday concert at St. Ignatius

For the second year running, the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii will stage its Mary and Christmas concert on Dec. 7 in the McLaughlin Theater at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago while renovation progresses as part of Pompeii’s “Shining Brightly” campaign.

Maestra Carling FitzSimmons will lead the shrine chorale and orchestra in a program of familiar Yuletide favorites and classics. Music will range from Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” to Mack Wilberg’s majestic arrangement of “O Holy Night,” as well as a host of timeless melodies of the season.

The concert will feature performances by baritone Anthony Rago; his daughter, lyric soprano Mia Rago; soprano Josie Falbo; and the shrine’s rector, Fr. Richard Fragomeni.

The performances will begin at 7:45 p.m. A preconcert reception at 6 p.m. will feature an elegant buffet prepared by Piccolo Sogno, and guests are invited to attend a Champagne and pastry reception after the concert. Complimentary valet parking will be available, with drop-off at 1076 Roosevelt Road.

Fr. Fragomeni credits this year’s co-chairs — Lydia and David Allen, Patricia and Joseph Perillo, Marietta and Louis Pullano, and Louis H. Rago — with organizing a memorable evening.

Individual tickets are $175 each, with sponsorship packages ranging from $825-$1,500. Seating is limited and orders are filled by date received until tickets sell out.
