The Arcolian Dental Arts Society honored Anthony M. Spina, D.D.S., M.D., as Arcolian of the Year at the society’s annual Christmas Party on Dec. 11 at the Park Ridge Country Club. (Dr. Jessica Mattern, 847-498-1595)
“Dr. Spina exemplifies our mission,” says Arcolian President Dr. Katina Spadoni. “He perpetuates fellowship between dentists, specialists, retirees and students; he has provided us with extraordinary speakers to help us earn continuing education units; and he opens us up to networking opportunities by bridging the gap between medical and dental.”
Spina earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, his dental degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry and his medical degree from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, completing both his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency and general surgery residency at SUNY Buffalo.
He began his career as an assistant professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kentucky and has lectured and written extensively in his area of specialty. He went into private practice in 1999, and his current practice is located in Park Ridge.
He has served on several committees of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and currently serves on the boards of OMS National Insurance and Fortress Insurance
He has served in leadership capacities for the Illinois Board of Dentistry, North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation and has been honored by the University of Kentucky, OMS Foundation and the AAOMS.
