Amy Mazzolin earns prestigious Kelly Award

Catholic Charities has bestowed one of its most prestigious awards upon Fra Noi President Amy Mazzolin. The retired banker and noted philanthropist was presented with the Dennis F. Kelly Award at the venerable organization’s 99th annual board of directors meeting on Oct. 17 at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in Chicago. Named after a revered past president of the organization, the award is given each year to a member of the board who exhibits outstanding service to the mission of Catholic Charities. Mazzolin inducted into Casa Executive Hall of Fame

The Mentesana Weber Room at Casa Italia was filled to capacity for the induction of Amy Mazzolin into the Casa’s Commerce and Industry Hall of Fame. Current and former associates joined family members and friends to honor a special woman on a special day. Among them were Amy’s children, Gil, Ron and Amy; daughter-in-law Kim; and grandchildren Gil D. and Veronica. Cabrini Shrine hosts birthday benefit

More than 200 people attended the third annual birthday benefit of Mother Cabrini on July 15 at the National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Chicago. The event celebrated the 165th birthday of America’s first saint. The evening began with a festive Mass at 5 p.m. in the Shrine, moving across the street for a reception at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. The weather was glorious, with music and cocktails enjoyed in the garden followed by dinner and an auction, raising crucial funds for the Shrine. Catholic Charities goes to bat for veterans in need

  On May 29, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago hosted the 4th Annual “Veterans In Need” Dinner to raise funds for the agency’s Veteran’s Services Programs. The keynote speaker was Col. Harvey Curtiss “Barney” Barnum USMC (Ret.), who earned the Medal of Honor for gallantry and heroism at the Battle of Ky Phu in Vietnam in 1965. Mantegna visits Windy City

Joe Mantegna stopped by a recent Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago reception at O’Brien’s Riverwalk Café to greet donors and thank them for their support. Active with Easter Seals for more than 25 years, the celebrated actor commented on the great services provided for children and young adults with autism throughout Chicago and Rockford.
