Rex Electric and Technologies LLC

Rex-ElectricA strong entrepreneurial spirit, an emphasis on creativity, professionalism and a willingness to utilize best practices from all different types of industries are characteristics prized by Dominic M. Sergi, chief executive officer of REX Electric and Technologies LLC.

These traits, along with the cornerstones of mutual respect and cooperation for all who interface with the company, and a commitment to good citizenship, have powered the success of REX, which has grown to be one of the largest providers of electrical and technology services in the Midwest.

Sergi built the business from a modest family company started by his uncle in 1921. He took over REX in the mid-’70s when the company was nearly dormant and built it into one of the industry’s most well-respected and largest full-service providers of electrical and technology services to general contractors, building owners and high-end residential projects. Today, REX powers electrical and technology solutions for a who’s who list of businesses and institutions.

REX serves some of the largest general contractors in the nation on some of the most expansive ground-up construction and interior build-outs. The company also represents building owners and managers at clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups, and has long-term clients they have served for decades.

“We treat our clients and employees like family,” reflects Sergi. “We fully believe in teamwork, innovation and doing what is right. These are all core values for our company, and are instilled at every level.

“Our clients feel very comfortable working with us. Not only do we seek to deliver excellent client service and value, we stand behind all of our work. Our clients know they are dealing with a business with family values that will be here for many years to come,” Sergi says.

He noted that many employees actually are family members. Dominic’s son, Joseph Sergi, runs the Technology Division, which provides state-of-the-art voice data, riser management, security and audio visual systems.

REX recently expanded its Technology Division capabilities in high-end commercial and residential audio/visual systems with the acquisition of Integrisys, a design/build technology company serving clients nationwide.

This acquisition makes REX one of the largest full-service electrical and complete technology solutions providers in the Midwest. The Integrisys team of some 15 engineers, project managers and technologists includes three principals who are among the nation’s best-known A/V systems experts in the industry.

Key members of REX’s management team include Sergi’s partners, Michael Segreti, the newly named president who also serves as CFO; Michael Bosco, executive vice president of operations, Electrical Division; and Eric Smith, executive vice president of sales. Other members of the leadership team include Patrick Lancaster, who runs REX Building Services, a division that works directly with building owners.

REX works with a number of the nation’s top universities, hospitals, manufacturers, industrial complexes, and all types of retail and commercial clients, large and small.

“We have a wealth of talent in our ranks,” Sergi notes, “and I don’t just mean the leadership team. Every one of our employees plays a big role in our success, and we look forward to growing along with our clients.”

Sergi also sees community involvement as a company value and REX champions it among their employees. “We have been blessed with our success and believe in giving back,” Sergi notes.
