Raineri fetes mounted police at October event

Members of the Chicago Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit stepped from their saddles and into the spotlight at the inaugural “Back the Blue Italian Style!” fundraiser.

Spearheaded by Enza Raineri, CEO of Enza Raineri & Associates, the event was held on Oct. 26 at the Morgan Arts Complex in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

The Mounted Patrol Unit plays an important role in community relations and security, attending special events, conducting daily patrols and serving as ambassadors for the city and its police department, according to Raineri.

Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling attended the event, presenting awards to three Italian-American members of the police department: officers Michael Orlando and Steven Loffredo, and human resources department employee Lisa Gariota.

Held during Italian American Heritage Month, “Back the Blue Italian Style!” featured food vendors such as Al’s Beef, Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants, Fabulous Freddies, Supreme Lobster, Tony’s Fresh Market, Old Neighborhood Italian American Club, and Onesti Entertainment.

Event sponsors included Teamsters Joint Council 25, GARC Restaurant Cooperative, EDP, International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 2, Gullo International Development Corp., Sorrentino & Co., Pan American Bank, Smith & Smith Attorneys at Law, Volare Ristorante Italiano and the Italian American Executives of Transportation.
