La Befana to touch down in the Windy City

La Befana is known for her ability to be in several places at once. Otherwise, how could she shower every good boy and girl around the world with gifts in the wee hours before the Feast of the Epiphany?

Those powers will come in handy when Italy’s good Christmas witch pays a visit to three local events in the days surrounding Jan. 6.

On Jan. 7, she’ll stop by the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii during the 11 a.m. Mass. Children will participate in the Mass readings and prayers and will have an opportunity to ask La Befana questions. (312-421-3757)

That same day, she’ll make an appearance at the Epiphany party at Pescatore Palace in Franklin Park. Hosted by the St. Francis Borgia Branch 392 of the Italian Catholic Federation, the event begins at 3 p.m. and will feature a family-style dinner and a DJ. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children. (773-763-0507)

And on Jan. 6, she’ll stop by the Scuola Italiana Enrico Fermi in Chicago from 10 a.m. to noon for a Festa della Befana. (312-971-8064)
