JCCIA Women’s Division event showcases style, substance

The Women’s Division of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans recently held their 51st annual Scholarship Presentation and Fashion Show at Drury Lane in Oak Brook Terrace.

President Rose Mary Ranallo and fashion show chairman Carmella Capriati greeted the 300 guests in attendance and thanked them for their support and generosity, which enables the women’s division to provide scholarships to five outstanding young Italian-American women who are entering college.

Annually, the women’s division presents high school seniors who have excelled scholastically with $2,000 scholarships. This year, they were fortunate to provide scholarships to five outstanding young ladies: Christina Marie Brewer, Lydia Christine Franz, Kasey Nicole Gelsomino, Hailey Elise Hill and Arianna Maria Zacchigna.

The Women’s Division of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans was organized in 1966. Since it’s inception, it has not only donated thousands of dollars to many charitable endeavors, but it has also provided great expressions of our Italian heritage. The division presented the Italian Heritage Ball and Cotillion at the Chicago Hilton and Towers for more than 45 years, and it has sponsored the Impresa Awards Gala honoring outstanding Italian-American women since 1993.

Tracy Tarantino of ZZAZZ Productions put on a fantastic fashion with a “Phantom of the Opera” theme. Vocalists Diva Montel and Jeorge Holmes provided the audience with a Broadway-style experience.
