The Italian American Executives of Transportation will honor Jamie Rhee as Woman of the Year and Sergio Serritella as Humanitarian of the Year at its awards dinner and celebration on Nov. 16 at Ashton Place in Willowbrook.
Rhee is Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation. Named to the post in 2018, she oversees operations at O’Hare and Midway International Airports, one of the largest airport systems in the world.
Over the course of a 28-year career with the city of Chicago, Rhee has served in multiple positions at the airports, from customer-service foreign-language assistant while in law school, to general counsel for the O’Hare Modernization Program.
Rhee also served as Chicago’s chief procurement officer from 2008 to 2018. Under her leadership, Chicago’s procurement-reform efforts have earned national and international recognition, and Rhee has been recognized with a dozen awards from industry organizations for her contributions to public service.
Serritella is the founder and president of the professional investigations and consulting firm Vantius, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. Vantius serves law firms, family offices, professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities, tackling cases worldwide from its offices in Chicago and Milan.
A member of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans and the Italian American Executives of Transportation, Serritella received a David Award in the field of government from the Italo American National Union Foundation in 2001 and served as the chairman of the JCCIA’s Columbus Day Parade in 2023.
