Chicagoland Italian American Charitable Organization
2015 Friday Night Fights

by Mary Racila

The Chicagoland Italian American Charitable Organization’s 3rd Friday Night Fights is more than your typical fundraiser or brawler’s ball. An absolute must for boxing fans, it also raises crucial funds for a variety of worthy causes.

Featuring at least seven boom-boom amateur bouts, Friday Night Fights will rock Medinah Hall in Addison on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first bell rings about 7 p.m.

The promoter for this heart-pounding evening, Hitz Boxing, will bring together top young talent, experienced judges and referees, and of course a bevy of lovely ring girls.

The event will also serve as the site of the Official Honey Bears Reunion Party. They cheered on our one and only Super Bowl champs back in 1985 and they’ll gather once again on Feb. 27 to sign autographs and reminisce.

The incomparable Diva Montell will sing the National Anthem and perform a brief pre-fight set.

Whether you’re a boxing enthusiast or a newcomer to the sport, you’ll have the time of your life cheering on your favorite fighters. And these pugilists are so fierce and skilled, they’ll quickly earn your allegiance.

Round after round, bell after bell, fight after fight, the night will not disappoint. The joint starts jumping early and typically fills up fast, leaving standing room only by the first bell.

Though there are no bad seats in the house, the VIP section is where it’s at. Reserved ringside tables include wait service, a full course steak dinner, beer and wine and all of the up-close action you can handle. Plus, you’re sitting in an exclusive, roped-off area with a dedicated entrance. Not too shabby, and all for a great cause.

Every penny of this year’s take will benefit the CIACO Scholarship fund, which has awarded more than half a million dollars to date. The evening will also feature a split-the-pot raffle. The last lucky winner pocketed $1100.

If you’re interested in getting your company name out there or you just want to show your support, numerous sponsorship opportunities are available.

Sponsorships include mentions on WGN radio and having your company name and logo on WGN.com, the CIACO website and projected on the big screen right behind the ring the night of the event.

Tickets, especially reserved and VIP seating, are limited and do go fast. To reserve your ticket TODAY go to www.CIACO.org.

For more than a quarter of a century, the Chicagoland Italian American Charitable Organization has dedicated itself to helping those in need; honoring those who serve community and country; bringing joy and hope to the less fortunate; and giving of their time, energy and talents without thought of reward. They distribute 50-pound crates of food, including a turkey, to more than 600 families for Thanksgiving, give toys to needy children at Christmas time, award scholarships to deserving high school seniors and financial assistance to wounded war veterans. They raise funds for these endeavors through their Honor and Hope Gala, annual golf outing and Friday Night Fights. To become a part of this proud tradition, visit www.ciaco.org.
