For nearly half a century, the Chicago West Suburban Chapter of UNICO National has served as consummate host of one of Chicagoland’s most popular charitable golf events.
Over the years, under the leadership of Jack Cerone, Joe Rovetto and most recently Ed Gesualdo, Chicago West Suburban UNICO’s outing has been noted for its gastronomic delights from sausage and egg breakfast before the golfer’s shotgun start to a buffet feast consisting of roasted lamb, chicken oreganato, Italian sausage with peppers, sweet corn on the cob and a variety of fresh fruits (with optional wine).
Guided by the versatile hand of UNICO National Executive Vice President Mike Veselka, the buffet runs from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon and is located at a point on the course to allow golfers the opportunity to return for seconds — or thirds — throughout the day of golf.
The day’s activities concluded with a raffle and distribution of prizes for the day’s best golfers (along with even more food).
This year, the chapter partnered with St. Vincent Ferrer Church of River Forest to raise funds for St. Vincent’s grade school, the Jimmy V Cancer Research Fund, the UNICO Foundation College Scholarship Fund and the Order of Alhambra.
The Chapter looks forward to hosting next year’s outing on Aug. 19, 2013. We invite your participation in what we promise will be yet another day of fun, competition and, above all, great food.
