Order Sons of Italy in America

Founded in 1905, the Order Sons of Italy in America is the oldest and largest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. OSIA encourages the study of Italian language and culture in American schools and universities; preserves Italian-American traditions, culture, history and heritage; and promotes closer cultural relations between the United States and Italy. It has a variety of programs for students and young professionals, conducts research and issues reports, bestows scholarships and grants, lobbies federal and international governmental bodies on behalf of the community and publishes a quarterly magazine. The Sons of Italy Foundation supports scholarship, cultural preservation, medical research and disaster relief. The Commission for Social Justice fights racism, prejudice, and the stereotyping of all races, religions and cultures. Annual events include an awards gala in May. Offices are located at 219 E. St., NE, Washington, DC 20002. For details, call 202-547-2900 or visit www.osia.org. The Grand Lodge of Illinois/Wisconsin is the governing body for nine lodges of the Order Sons of Italy in America. The grand lodge hosts a Leonardo da Vinci Awards Gala in May, a Columbus Day banquet in October, and a wreath-laying ceremony on Columbus Day. Offices are located at 9447 W. 144th Place, Orland Park, IL 60462.
