Founded in 1975, the National Italian American Foundation is the Italian-American community’s voice in the nation’s capital. The foundation networks with government officials and media, strengthens cultural and economic ties with Italy, encourages the teaching of Italian in the United States, monitors the portrayal of Italian Americans by the news media and entertainment industries, hosts conferences and symposia, bestows grants and scholarships, conducts tours to Italy, offers a variety of youth and mentoring programs, conducts research and issues reports, and publishes a newsletter and quarterly magazine.
