Sergio “Satch” Pecori, chairman and CEO of Hanson Professional Services Inc., has been named chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies. Pecori, who served as chair-elect of ACEC this past year, accepted the post in April during ACEC’s annual convention in Washington, D.C. Dr. Luisa DiPietro, a professor of periodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. AAAS fellows are selected by their peers in recognition of significant advances made in the sciences. The director of the UIC Center for Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration and the associate chancellor for research, DiPietro studies the process of wound healing and tissue regeneration following injury. She and her coworkers have discovered several key factors that dictate whether wounds heal perfectly or with scars.

Dr. Anna Manzotti, a clinical assistant professor of restorative dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, earned a Teaching Recognition Program (TRC) Award from the UIC Center for the Advancement of Teaching-Learning Communities. “Dr. Manzotti’s teaching is an excellent example of the high quality of instruction that characterizes the best of UIC,” says Dr. Maria Varelas, director of the center.   The Illinois Supreme Court has reappointed personal injury attorney Antonio M. Romanucci vice chairperson of its Rules Committee. A founding principal and partner at Romanucci & Blandin, Romanucci has served on the Rules Committee since December 2011. He and 15 other committee members are responsible for analyzing and recommending new Supreme Court rules or modifications to existing rules that govern all proceedings in trial court. “Serving on a committee with such well-regarded attorneys, judges and educators is a true honor,” says Romanucci, who has been named a Top Superlawyer in Illinois for 10 straight years.  

Governor Bruce Rauner has appointed Westchester attorney Mauro Glorioso chairman of the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board. Glorioso has been a member of the five-member board for eight years. The Illinois Senate confirmed his appointment by a vote of 52-0. Prior to becoming a board member, Glorioso served as an administrative law judge at the agency for eight years. A past president of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, Glorioso has been active in the 30,000-member Illinois State Bar Association, having served three terms on the ISBA Board of Governors.
