2014 President Dr. Joseph Favia

ADAS11Dr. Joseph Favia was recently installed as president of the Arcolian Dental Arts Society.

A 1993 graduate of Loyola University School of Dentistry, where he served as Student Congress president, Dr. Favia has pursued advanced education from some of dentistry’s best institutions, including the Peter Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Education and the Pankey Institute. He currently teaches implant surgical procedures internationally to general dentists for Henry Schein’s Camlog Implant system.

In 1997, Dr. Favia founded the Windy City Classic Celebrity Golf Tourney, which has raised more than $1 million toward cancer research in memory of Jim Valvano and Walter Payton. He chaired the event for 14 years.

Dr. Favia lives and maintains a private practice in Arlington Heights. He served as 2010 president of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, where he founded the very first Taste of Arlington Heights, an event he still chairs.

He was honored as the Business Leader of the Year in 2011 by chamber received a Heart of Gold Award from the village of Arlington Heights in 2013 and was voted Best Dentist from Daily Herald’s Readers Choice Award in 2013 and 2014.

Of his involvement in the Arcolians, Dr. Favia says, “I love this group due to the Italian bond we all share. Italians have been and always will be proud of our heritage. God, family, friends, schooling and the food we enjoy each time we meet makes our group special to us. We all know what it took for us to get to where we’re at today and we have a great respect for each other.”

“Most dentists of Italian descent want to attend our group and not much convincing needs to be done. But it’s the busy family, work and personal schedules that do not allow many to join our group or make meetings,” he notes. “One of my goals this year is to personally contact many old members and prospective members to find a way to get them engaged into our group.”

Dr. Favia’s fellow officers are Dr. Frank Maggio, president elect; Dr. Russell Spinnazze, vice president; Dr. Stephen Esposito, treasurer; and Dr. Anthony LaPorte, secretary.
