On Aug. 10, Società San Francesco di Paola hosted its 44th annual Festa Della Famiglia in Onore di San Francesco di Paola at Casa Italia in Stone Park, bringing people together to celebrate faith, family and the Calabresi American community spirit.
Festivities began with a prayerful procession featuring the statue of San Francesco di Paola, escorted by the Knights of Columbus and accompanied by many faithful followers. A solemn and inspiring Mass, celebrated by the Rev. James Presta, welcomed more than 1,000 attendees. The liturgy was filled with notes of caritas (charity), tradition, storytelling and laughter, reminding all that through the inspirational example of San Francesco di Paola, faith in God unites people across generations.
After Mass, guests gathered to share a meal with family and friends. Children delighted in rides on the train and Ferris wheel, while balloon artists, face painters, magicians and puppeteers added to the lively atmosphere. DJ entertainment kept the energy high, ensuring fun for every age group.
As the day continued, excitement grew along with a raffle and split-the-pot drawing, while live music filled the air. Straight from Calabria, Antonio Bevacqua opened the evening, followed by the renowned Italian Bee Gees — Walter, Pasquale and Davide Egiziano — who inspired the crowd to sing, dance and celebrate together, creating unforgettable memories.
The day concluded with the traditional torchlight procession to Calvary Hill for final prayers and blessings. Festa Della Famiglia 2025 beautifully reflected the warmth of Calabrian heritage, the strength of faith and the joy of community.
