The unstoppable Lidia Bastianich has produced numerous PBS cooking series along with companion cookbooks, including 2007's "Lidia's Italy: 140 Simple and Delicious Recipes from the Ten Places in Italy Lidia Loves Most."
The book takes us on a culinary tour of places close to Bastianich's heart, beginning in Istria, which was part of Italy when she was born there but is now part of Croatia.
She visits other destinations such as Trieste and Friuli that display the strong Slavic influence in the cooking of northeastern Italy. She also looks in on Puglia, Piemonte, Western Sicily, and other more familiar locales such as Rome and Naples. She introduces tempting, clearly written recipes at each visit and offers informative local details for the armchair traveler.
